Welcome to North Cave WI's web page. The WI is all about inspiring women and it offers women the opportunity to join and be involved in a way that suits them. North Cave WI wasestablished in 1927 in the days when ladies wore hats and gloves to meetings and membership was proposed by a sponsor. We are much more informal these days,but still a force to be reckoned with. Any ladies who would enjoy our lively,informative, monthly evening meetings would be very welcome.
We meet at 7.30pm on 1st Thursday of each month in NorthCave Village Hall Westgate North Cave HU15. At these meetings we are given information on events, campaigns and general WI National and local news. We catch up with each other's news whilst enjoying refreshments then either listen to an interesting speaker or watch craft or cookery demonstrations.
As well as our monthly meetings,North Cave WI has a Knit and Natter Group – getting together on a regular basis to work on their current handicraft project whilst having a good natter, always a winner! For those who like to get out and about we have a regular walking group enjoying the local countryside which usually includes a well-earned meal and drink. We also enjoy a monthly lunch out on the 2nd Thursday of the month. We have an interesting and varied programme for 2016, to include talks on the artist F Elwell, Vilma's Patisserie, London & the City and theJazz Baroness Rothschild. Other outings include Driffield Band Concert, the poppies at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Boundary Mill and various Stately Homes so do come and join us, bring your ideas, make new friends and have fun.
The North Cave WI are lively and friendly and very much welcome all ages to our meetings. It's not just about making jam and baking buns- although these skills are still popular - it's more about making friends and finding inspiration from what's on offer. You can be involved as much or as little as you wish! So come along and give us a try! Visitors can come along to a meeting with no charge at all before making their decision to join.
