What we are up to

Welcome to Beverley WI.  We are a very sociable group and have lots to offer to our members!  Apart from our monthly Members’ Meetings, where we have a variety of speakers and activities, we also run a wide range of groups for you to take part in. If there is something you enjoy doing which is not on our list, please let a member of the Committee know – even better, why not set up a new group yourself?

Joining one (or more!) of the groups is a great way of getting to know us.  If you would like to attend any of them but have no transport of your own, please speak to a committee member so we can arrange a lift for you.

Coffee mornings Open to any member, we meet on a weekly basis (usually a Monday or Tuesday) at various local venues, to enjoy a tea or coffee and share a chat - a chance to meet others and make new friends.

Lunch Group This is held once a month at venues in and around Beverley. Enjoy a friendly meal with fellow members.

Theatre Group Regular visits to the East Riding Theatre in Beverley are organised, with the chance to see a whole range of performances, from musicals through to comedy and classic productions.

Quiz group  Come and join us for a fun afternoon.  You're not on your own and it really doesn't matter who wins or loses!  A wide variety of different rounds to cover everyone's strengths!

Walking Group If you enjoy walking in the countryside with congenial friends, try our walking group. We meet monthly during the Summer on Thursday afternoons for short, brisk walks in the local area, often finishing with a café visit.

Gardening Group This is a must for members who enjoy gardens (even those who can’t manage hands-on gardening). Events include visits to gardens, with walks and talks, trips to garden centres (usually with refreshments) and social events.  Transport arranged.

Games Club A light-hearted afternoon session of board games or dominoes at the Dog and Duck pub on Ladygate in Beverley. Usually held monthly on a Wednesday, but days can vary.

Mah Jong A monthly opportunity to develop your Mah Jong skills, from absolute beginners to those who have played more regularly.

Craft Group  We are a friendly group of members interested in all aspects of handicrafts, ranging from card making to sewing small decorative items. Help is at hand for the inexperienced. Cost is minimal, usually about £1 for materials. Refreshments free, new members welcome. We meet monthly on Monday afternoons.
