Ann Mitchell

MAC Team Leader

Ann joined the WI in 2012 after realising that her mother’s social life with the WI was far more interesting than her own. Since then, she has thoroughly enjoyed socialising with diverse and inspiring women and acquiring new skills along the way. A member of Sewerby WI, Ann served on their committee and has been their President. She is also a founding member of East Yorkshire Roses Virtual WI.

Ann has held several roles within the WI, including Vice Chairman of the Federation and Membership Chairman.  In 2019, she trained as a WI Adviser and currently sits on both the Membership Advisory Committee and also plays an active role in the East Yorkshire Federation Voices Focus Group, helping to develop public affairs strategies. Currently, Ann also serves as a  National Trustee for the NFWI.

Outside of the WI, Ann is a member of the Humberside and Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner’s Violence Against Women and Girls Independent Advisory Group, a role she is very passionate about.

Ann began her career leading a sales and marketing team for an international drinks company before moving to Lloyd’s of London. After relocating to Yorkshire, she retrained in the primary education sector, focusing on children with special educational needs (SEND).

When not involved with the WI, Ann enjoys her time outdoors, sea swimming, walking, and beachcombing along the East Yorkshire coastline. When the weather keeps her inside, she loves baking and crafting. She also dedicates her time to volunteering in her local community especially her WI’s Conversation Café.
